MicroAngelo
Have you seen those little icons that seem to display in your browser favorites for some sites? You know, like the one for this site (Internet Tips and Secrets - http://www.internet-tips.net), CNN or MSN. These icons are very tiny, just 16 pixels wide by 16 pixels high, but they sure add a small touch of class to any web site. The images show up in the favorites, on the address bar and a larger (32x32 pixel) version even shows up on the desktop if you create a shortcut.
Creating these icons can be a real challenge, as they have a different structure internally than other graphics (they are not straight GIF or JPEG images). There are many different products available all over the internet which have been specifically created just to allow editing these little pictures.
My favorite application is called MicroAngelo. This full-functioned editor supports every single feature that is available with icons, including the different sizes, animation and so on. I've looked at a lot of icon programs and MicroAngelo is by far the best.
