Winamp
Winamp is a nice little
program for listening to sound. I like it much better than Windows Media
Player, although Winamp is only for sound files, not video.
One thing I really like about this program is the ability to put on any "skin" that I want. A skin is exactly that - the look and feel of the program (they are becoming quite popular now in many different programs). Creating skins is easy, as evidenced by the thousands and thousands of them that are available all over the internet.
Winamp is relatively small in memory and seems to run well on most computer systems. It's quick and simple to use, with intuitive controls which resemble those of a real amplifier and tape deck. I think this makes it a little more friendly and easier to use than other systems.
Winamp supports plug-ins as well, which means that additional features and functions can be added by third party developers. I like plug-ins because new and cool things can be added at will, but you have to be careful as this can also introduce bugs and security holes.
So that's about it. Winamp is a great program, although if you also want video you will have to install another program such as Windows Media Player. Personally, I install them both, and use Winamp for sound and Windows Media Player for video.
